What we tested

We bought two QuickPlay Ball Mastery Mats and used them for five months.

One went back after the printed QR code failed to unlock the eCoach videos.

Additionally, we kept the other and used it with chalk lines on the back patio to test its value.

The QR code doesn’t work

The mat’s headline feature is “eCoach video access” — training videos unlocked by a QR code printed on the mat. Ours never scanned. We ended up searching YouTube for dribbling drills instead, which is exactly what you’d do with no mat at all. That failure is the likely reason the first unit came back.

What’s good

The printed foot-position markings do their job. They give clear, repeatable movement patterns — more structure than a ball and some cones on their own. The mat we kept has stayed grippy and flat over five months, with no curling or fading.

What’s not

The QR code doesn’t work. Consequently, the eCoach videos, one of the three components this product includes, aren’t accessible out of the box. We tested the obvious free alternative: chalk lines drawn on the patio. It worked just as well for the same footwork drills, at no cost. One of our two units was returned, and the QR failure likely played a part for QuickPlay Ball Mastery Mat.

Who should buy it

Players who want a printed drill layout for structured solo practice, and who don’t care whether the video access works, since they’ll find their own drills either way.

Who shouldn’t

People buy this for the eCoach videos specifically.

Additionally, anyone with a driveway, a patio, or a piece of chalk can use it for free.

Thus, casual players who won’t train often enough should not spend $33 instead of doing nothing.
